Polycom Video on US National Daytime TV

Today on the Dr. Phil television show we had national recognition of the Polycom solution for visual communication. Dr. Phil is now using Polycom gear to bring remote participants into video calls at Paramount Studio's in California.

Whenever the studio wanted to bring in remote guests they need to contract and truck-roll a team into a location with an approximate cost of 45,000 US. With the combined power of the Polycom CMA, HDX, VBP, RMX, and CMA Desktop this one time investment cost them considerably less and is infinitely more flexible.

We will post the segment where Polycom is mentioned as soon as it's available.

Install with server IP address pre-population

Tip for the day; During an .msi install of the CMAD client you are able to predefine the IP address of the CMA server using;

msiexec/qn SBSERVERTYPE=2 SBSERVERADDRESS= /I* CMA_install.txt /i CMA_Desktop.msi

where is either hostname, or the IP address without angle brackets.

BTW, if they've configured their network for auto discovery of the CMA server using SRV records then specifiying the server should be unnecessary.

Control Users ability to see each other

Question of the Day: Can I segment the registered users of the CMA from "seeing each other" in the Active Directory?

Answer; An administrator can enable ACL, Access Control Lists on the Active Directory to limit the ability from one user to "see" another user. This will limit the ability to search for an individual user but will not limit the ability one user to call another if they happen to know the IP address, E.164, or Annex O dial string.
